Blackcaps allrounder Mitch Santner has given national selectors a timely reminder of his abilities with both bat and ball, scoring a century and taking five wickets for Nothern Districts in Plunket Shield play.
After amassing 136 in Northern's first innings against Central Stags, Santner captured the final wicket of the Stags' dig to cap career-best figures of 5/51.
Only two Northern Districts players have achieved the milestone previously - Grant Bradburn's 104 & 5/114 against Wellington in 2000/01 and Tim Southee's 156 and 5/69 against Wellington in 2012/13.
Auckland Aces captain Robbie O'Donnell was the most recent instance, against Canterbury last November, while Santner becomes the 44th in first-class cricket.
Northern held a first-innings lead, after scoring 513 and dismissing their rivals for 245 in response.
While he is not part of the NZ test line-up to face Sri Lanka over the next two weeks, Santner is likely to spearhead the white-ball squad for three one-dayers and three Twenty20s against the tourists.
