Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic have clinched their first win of the ANZ Premiership season, with a stunning come-from-behind extra-time triumph over Northern Mystics.
The hardfought fixture was forced into extra time for just the seventh time in competition history, as the hosts overturned an early 10-goal deficit to claim the honours 57-56 at Hamilton.
In their second straight game on the road, the Mystics looked on their way to another win with a dominant first quarter, but Magic shooter Amelieranne Ekenasio helped her side reduce the lead to seven goals at halftime.
.
The break saw a different Magic outfit retake the court, with their defence limiting Silver Ferns star Grace Nweke's chances at goal.
With Ekenasio ramping up her offensive output, the Magic clawed their way back into the contest, before forcing extra time with a last-gasp effort from a Mystics mistake.
The six minutes that followed saw both teams trading blows in a nailbiting affair, going goal-for-goal.
With the clock on their side, the Magic made the final possession count to score just before the final whistle, with Ekenasio sealing the upset win.
