The Blackcaps have been handily beaten by Pakistan for the second time in as many days, falling to a 38-run defeat in their Twenty20 international showdown at Lahore.
After Babar Azam's magnificent 101no off 58 balls had lifted Pakistan to an imposing 192/4, New Zealand never threatened in their chase, limping through to 154/7.
After their crushing 88-run win, the result gives Pakistan a 2-0 lead in the five-match series, with a chance to close out the series on Tuesday morning (NZ time) at the same venue.
Mark Chapman was the standalone highlight for the Blackcaps, carrying his bat with 65 off just 40 balls, including four fours and four sixes.
The hosts flew out of the blocks, as Mohammad Rizwan and Azam put on 99 for the first wicket, before Matt Henry forced a miscue to mid-off in the 11th over.
Henry then found himself on the cusp of a second straight hat-trick, when he went through Fakhar Zaman's gate to claim two wickets in as many balls.
Saim Ayub and Imad Wasim departed cheaply at the hands of Rachin Ravindra and James Neesham respectively, and Pakistan had suddenly lost four wickets for just six runs.
That brought Iftikhar Ahmed (33 off 19 balls) to the crease and he proved the ideal foil for his swashbuckling captain.
The pair put on an unbeaten 87 from just 43 balls, with Azam blasting Neesham over midwicket for four - his 14th boundary - off the final delivery of the innings to bring up his third T20I century and put the finishing touches on a very competitive total.
Following his hat-trick heroics in the opening match, Henry was again the best of the NZ bowlers, claiming 2/29 from his four overs.
The Blackcaps made a positive start to their pursuit. Tom Latham and Chad Bowes put on 44 runs, before Shadab Khan trapped the NZ captain leg before wicket in the seventh over.
Bowes looked in good touch during his 26 from 24 balls, eventually bowled by Imad Wasim in the eighth over to take the score to 52/2.
Conscious of the rapidly rising required run rate, Chapman strode to the crease and wasted no time hunting the boundary, but he had little support at the other end of the pitch, with Will Young (9), Daryl Mitchell (9) and Neesham (1) all departing with minimal contributions, as the Kiwis fell to 112/5 in the 15th over.
Chapman raised his fourth T20I half-century in the next over, coming from just 30 deliveries, but it was all academic, as the tourists entered the final over facing the impossible task of 47 runs for victory.
Paceman Haris Rauf was again the chief destroyer for Pakistan, taking another four wickets to lift his total to eight for the series at the expense of only 45 runs.
