NRL: Shaun Johnson delivers hilarious interview after miraculous Warriors comeback against Sharks

Standout halfback Shaun Johnson's breathless post-game diatribe has perfectly captured the drama of a famous NZ Warriors comeback win over the Sharks.

In between dapping up his teammates past and present, Johnson - clearly still riding the high of his matchwinning penalty - lets his emotions fly.

"Ah bro, that was off its head," Johnson told Fox Sports, after the Warriors fought back from 20-0 down to claim a 32-30 win.

"We spoke about it at halftime: 'Do we actually believe we can go out there and do it?'.

"We said some funny shit at halftime, bro. 'What a story it would be, we'll tell our grandkids about this one day.... let's go out and have a crack'.

"Man, we are so resilient bro. I love being a part of it, it’s such a good feeling."

Johnson was the best Warriors player on the field at Shark Park, continuing his 2023 resurgence with a vintage performance not seen since his first stint with the club.

He punctuated his one-try, three-try assist outing by kicking the winning penalty in the final minute, as the rain pelted down in the Sydney seaside suburb.

After leaving the Warriors in 2018, Johnson, 32, spent three seasons with the Sharks and he admitted to flashbacks of kicking practice under then-head coach John Morris.

"When we used to do pre-season here, Bomber, John Morris, would make me kick goals at the end of a solid training session. He'd say, 'If you get this, the boys are done for the day'.

"He'd make me kick it from the sideline. All the boys are watching me.

"It took me back to that moment. I've kicked so many goals out here, so to get one to go over in the dying minutes..."

Among the best Warriors wins he'd been a part of during his 162 games for the club, Johnson admits this ranks right up there.

"Everyone watching at home, everyone watching here can see a difference in us," he added.

"We are no longer the unknown, people can see it now. It's about us not getting comfortable and complacent.

"We go home, we work hard and we come back next week."
