All Blacks and Highlanders prop Ethan de Groot has recommitted to NZ Rugby for the next three years.
The 13-test front-rower has inked a new deal that will see him remain with the Highlanders and Southland until the end of the 2026 season.
De Groot was a revelation for the All Blacks late last season, establishing himself in a newlook front row and cementing his spot as the first-choice loosehead.
"It was an easy decision to stay in New Zealand," said de Groot. "All I want to do is play for my country and represent my home region."
De Groot joins fellow prop Tyrel Lomax, who re-signed for the same duration last month.
"We are proud of the work Ethan has put into his career so far," said NZ Rugby chief executive Mark Robinson.
"We believe in him and will continue to support his growth at all levels."
With his sights set on the Rugby World Cup in France later this year, de Groot has pushed his case with strong performances for the Highlanders, particularly with his scrummaging.
"His consistent performances and selection for the All Blacks are testament to his dedication to improvement, and the genuine talent he possesses," said Highlanders coach Clarke Dermody.
"He has the capability, over the next three years, to play a lot of rugby for the All Blacks and to be a key part of the Highlanders engine room.
"I am excited about the level to which he could take his game over the next few years. He’s a proud Southlander, and his commitment for another three years to the Highlanders is certainly great news for our team and our region."
