New Zealand have topped their pool at the Singapore Sevens, after a narrow win over South Africa in their final match.
Cody Vai scored a 12th-minute try to give the All Blacks Sevens the 12-7 victory, and set up a quarter-final clash with Great Britain.
But the fixture almost played out very differently, after South Africa struck first through Mfundo Mdhlovu for a 7-0 lead.
Dylan Collier hit back for New Zealand just minutes later to tie the match up, before Vai scored the winning try and keep their unbeaten status.
It comes after dominant wins over Australia (24-12) and Hong Kong (47-0) in their other pool matches earlier in the day's play.
Hunting their fourth tournament victory of the years, New Zealand were never tested by the Asian side, with speedster Moses Leo scoring in the opening minute and adding another before halftime.
Ahead 21-0 at the break, the Kiwis were even more dominant after the restart, with Leroy Carter adding a try double.
