Even without captain Sarah Hirini, the Black Ferns Sevens juggernaut continues to roll through the Hong Kong draw, steamrolling Canada to reach the quarter-finals unbeaten.
After dispatching hosts Hong Kong China and Great Britain on opening day, the NZ women have completed poolplay with a 46-0 romp over the North Americans to book a playoff meeting with the same opposition - second-best third placegetters - on Sunday (NZ time).
New Zealand have not allowed their opponents to score so far at this tournament, as they stretch their unbeaten run to 27 games, since they lost to Australia in the Dubai final last December.
During that run, Canada have come closest to toppling the Kiwis, pushing them to a 10-5 quarter-final win at Vancouver last month. They were totally unable to replicate that effort at Hong Kong.
Hirini copped a three-game suspension after the opening game against debutants Hong Kong China and will also miss the quarter-final.
Meanwhile, the NZ men have also locked in their spot beyond poolplay with a hard-fought 12-7 win over South Africa - their second of the tournament. Leroy Carter and debutant Cody Vai scored tries, while Brady Rush had one disallowed, after he forced the ball on the corner flag.
The All Blacks Sevens wrapped up their pool draw with a 26-7 result over Ireland, with tries to Rush, Ngarohi McGarvey-Black, Carter and Fehi Fineanganoho.
They will face Argentina in Sunday's quarter-finals.
