By his own admission, the Chiefs' sensational start to the Super Rugby Pacific season has made frustrating viewing for Anton Lienert-Brown.
The All Blacks midfielder suffered a high ankle sprain in the opening game of their campaign, which was initially supposed to rule him out for three weeks.
A month-and-a-half later, he's still a fair way off, but he's learning some lessons along the way.
Sitting still is somewhat strange for Lienert-Brown.
"I'm one of the more impatient people going around, so when I'm out injured, all I want to do is get back," he told Newshub, but getting back keeps getting delayed.
He's now missed six weeks and was meant to return this weekend, 'was' being the key word.
"I got through this run well," he said. "It's my third run back, I've got a few more to go and then once I'm back training with the boys, that's probably when we'll know."
The 59-test All Black is no stranger to injury, missing much of last year rehabbing from shoulder surgery, but he's learning to be patient.
"Sometimes, you've got to slow down to go faster in the future," he said. "If you push yourself too early, it can come back to bite you in the arse."
Even if that means being away from a team that is unbeaten through six games and averaging 33 points a match atop the competition table.
While the limp is gone, the ankle remains strapped and Lienert-Brown knows he's not there yet.
"I've never done a high ankle sprain before, so I just thought it was a sprain and didn't realise how lengthy it can be.
"I've been circling games since round one versus Crusaders, since I did it, so I've learnt not to do it."
For now, the waiting game is the only match on his calendar.
