Blackcaps batter Devon Conway top-scored for Chennai Super Kings, en route to a five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the final of the Indian Premier League.
Needing 10 runs to win from the final two balls, India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hit a six and a four to steer the Stephen Fleming-coached Super Kings to their fifth IPL title, denying the Titans a second-straight title.
Conway, 31, added another 47 runs to his tournament total, finishing as the third-highest scorer with 672 at an average of 51.69, with six half-centuries and a high score of 92 not out.
"[I was thinking] just swing for the hills and hope for the best," Conway said post-match. "It's a special, special night for us.
"It's been great, this environment that I'm involved in is really good. There's some top players in this group.
"It gives me the opportunity to speak to them about batting...I'm just happy to be part of this group."
Victory is another jewel in the crown for Super Kings captain MS Dhoni, who has been at the helm of all five Chennai titles alongside Fleming.
"This one's amazing," said Fleming. "It's been a long two days, but a big campaign really.
"Delighted it came down to two balls, you can't ask for much more really.
"It's a massive squad, you've got about 20 odd players and 12 to 15 coaching staff. At different stages, guys are called upon to do different tasks.
"By the last couple of balls, you're just sitting and watching really. [I felt] helpless and aging by the second - and just happy to get over the mark."
Blackcaps spinner Mitchell Santner is also part of the Chennai squad, but has found game time hard to come by this season.
As rain took the final into a third day, with the clock ticking past midnight in Ahmedabad, the Titans belted an impressive 214/4 in their 20 overs after being asked to bat first.
A 47-ball 96 runs to uncapped India batter Sai Sudharsan led the way, as former India test wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha made 54 from 39 balls, while tournament-leading run-scorer Shubman Gill added 39.
Another rain delay adjusted the Super Kings' target to 171 in 15 overs, before Conway and India's Ruturaj Gaikwad got off to a blistering start.
Opening together, the pair added a half-century stand in 24 balls, and 74 runs together in 39 balls.
Conway hit four fours and two sixes on his way to 47 runs off 25 balls, before he fell, caught by Mohit Sharma off the bowling of Afghanistan's Noor Ahmed.
But a middle order wobble saw Chennai slide from 117/2 to 149/5 - including Dhoni falling for a golden duck in what could be his final professional appearance.
Cameo appearances from Ajinkya Rahane (27 off 13 balls) and Ambati Rayudu (19 off eight) took Chennai closer, but the victory was all but assured for the Titans come the final over.
Jadeja, though, kept his composure. Needing 13 from the last six balls, Mohit (3/36) looked to have iced a second-straight win for the Titans, conceding three runs from the first four balls.
Needing to clear the fence, Jadeja did just that with six over long-on, and then tickled a boundary fine to hit the winning runs.
A fifth title makes Chennai the joint-most successful team in IPL history, equal with Mumbai Indians.
