Rugby: All Blacks star Will Jordan re-signs with NZ Rugby, Crusaders through 2027 World Cup

All Blacks star Will Jordan has become the latest to commit to the national team through the 2027 Rugby World Cup.

With 21 tries from as many appearances for New Zealand, Jordan, 25, has already established himself as a prolific offensive threat, with his best days still ahead of him.

With many senior player heading offshore after this year's World Cup, he becomes the third player - behind hooker Samisoni Taukei'aho and midfielder Rieko Ioane - to extend his NZR contract another four years.

"I'm hugely excited to re-sign with NZ Rugby and the Crusaders for four years," said Jordan. "Both teams mean a lot to me, and this deal gives me the chance to focus on becoming the best player I can be and help these teams chase success."

While his international reputation has been achieved on the wing, he has played fullback in Super Rugby and may ultimately provide the X-factor at that position for the All Blacks.

"Fifteen is probably the dream position for me," he told Sky Sport's Breakdown. "It's where I've played most of my rugby and it's where I feel I can be most involved, which I enjoy.

"It provides the ability to roam the field and pick your spots. Playing on the wing at international level has been a great challenge, something I've enjoyed, and it's a pretty common path for guys to go between that fullback and wing spot."

Jordan's progress was stalled by an inner-ear vestibular issue that kept him out of the All Blacks' northern hemisphere tour last year and the start of the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season.

"This is another key signing for New Zealand," said current All Blacks coach Ian Foster. "Will is a quality person first and foremost, and his class off the field translates to what we see from him as a player.

"His ongoing commitment to New Zealand is exciting."

Part of his decision to stay is the opportunity to play for the All Blacks under his current Crusaders coach, Scott Robertson.

"Will's skillset and anticipation set him apart, his timing on and off the ball is world class," said Robertson. "His game management and understanding is critical to the Crusaders' performance, both on and off the field."
