Crusaders winger Macca Springer has paid tribute to former Tasman halfback Billy Guyton, after his death earlier in the week.
Guyton was farewelled at a funeral service at Trafalgar Park - home of the Tasman Mako - on Thursday. He was 33.
While Guyton made 26 Super Rugby appearances across stints with the Blues, Crusaders and Hurricanes, the halfback enjoyed his most prolific spell playing for Tasman - notching a half-century of NPC games from 2013-17.
In tribute, fellow Tasman product Springer performed the Mako's signature fin celebration, after scoring for the Crusaders in their 41-7 victory over Moana Pasifika at Go Media Stadium Mt Smart on Friday.
On post-match commentary, Crusaders assistant coach James Marshall has paid tribute to Guyton, after sharing a Super Rugby dressingroom with him.
"Absolutely heartbreaking to hear the news about Billy," Marshall said. "He was a champion man.
"I was lucky enough to play with him at the Hurricanes. He was such a legend, I'm absolutely gutted to hear that news.
"Massive shout out to his family and love to all of them, so I hope they're doing well. Rest in peace, Billy."
