They might be young and inexperienced, but Dame Noeline Taurua is confident her Silver Ferns squad will succeed at the Netball World Cup in South Africa.
The side features just six players who were part of the team that won the cup in 2019.
And that means young guns like Maddy Gordon and Grace Nweke are among six players who will make their World Cup debut in Cape Town next month.
But there's one key name missing from the list.
It's taken a long time for coach Dame Noeline to figure out the selection picture.
"Over the last two years, the depth that we've been looking at, providing opportunities for players to wear the black dress, has all come down to this day," she said.
But there's one notable name missing from the squad of 12 - Northern Mystics midcourter Peta Toeava.
The wing attack has been instrumental in the Mystics' championship-winning season.
But her inability to cover other positions has cost Toeava a spot on the plane to Cape Town.
"Because we're playing a tournament style, we need versatility," Dame Noeline explained. "We can't afford to have two specialists in one area."
Versatility is no issue for Maddy Gordon. The 23-year-old was a standout for the Pulse this year and covers all three midcourt positions.
Now, Gordon is desperate to add to her six appearances in the black dress.
"It will probably feel like a debut all over again," Gordon told Newshub. "Especially at a World Cup.
"It will be quite crazy."
Overall the squad has 350 fewer caps than the team that lifted the World Cup in 2019 - but that doesn't concern Dame Noeline.
Asked if this is the squad to win the World Cup, "I really do believe it," she replied.
