Super Rugby Pacific rivalries have run deep in the build-up to Saturday's big final between the Chiefs and Crusaders at Hamilton.
The southerners have won six Super Rugby crowns in the past six years, and hope to entice a parting breakdance from coach Scott Robertson, as he takes up his new All Blacks role.
That prospect clearly doesn't excite AM Show host and Chiefs fan Laura Tupou, who has given Crusaders fullback Will Jordan a prickly reception before the encounter.
"You've gone down to the Chiefs twice this season," she read straight off her cue card. "How are the Crusaders planning on crushing the Chiefs' hopes and dreams of a threepeat, and taking home your shiny Super trophy?"
The tabletopping Chiefs accounted for the defending champions 31-10 at Christchurch in their February season-opener and then repeated the dose 34-24 at home in April, as part of a 10-game winning streak that ended with their only loss to the Reds.
Jordan handled the wickedly bouncing ball with aplomb.
"Obviously, the Chief have had it all over us a little bit this year," he said. "I think those last couple of games were a while ago now, so while they're in the back of the mind, it's a real focus around this week on nailing what we need to nail for what will be a hostile Hamilton crowd, I'm sure, and get the job done."
Tupou's inquisition continued: "Has the Super trophy collected much dust, since it's sat at your club since 2017?"
Jordan, who has scored 21 tries in as many appearances for the All Blacks, showed his counterattacking ability.
"We've always had a mindset that each year is its own entity, so we're not talking too much about defending it this week," he said. "It's been more about going to win it - but I'm sure somebody at the park has given it a bit of a clean-up anyway, just in case we do have to hand it over."
AM newsreader Michael O'Keeffe - whose brother Ben will referee the final - asked whether the Crusaders intended flying out of Hamilton straight after the game to avoid any disruption from hostile Chiefs fans.
"We'll get there the night before," deflected Jordan. "Obviously, 'Razor' has teed up a trusty chef to cook us our pre-match meal tomorrow night, so there's no food-poisoning going around - that might have been a bit of an issue back in the day.
"We're up there tomorrow to get amongst the Waikato spirit nice and early, and get a feel for it before the game on Saturday."
The Chiefs last captured the Super Rugby crown, when they completed back-to-back championships in 2012-13.
