Kiwi pole vaulter Eliza McCartney has delivered an encouraging performance in Switzerland, to claim her first Diamond League podium in five years.
McCartney placed third with a best of 4.71m in Lausanne, with world and Olympic champion Katie Moon taking first place with a 4.82m jump on her third and final attempt.
Finland's Wilma Murto overcame earlier hiccups to soar past the Kiwi with a clearance of 4.77m, a height McCartney couldn't eclipse.
Instead, she settled for a respectable third-place finish, in her first Diamond League appearance in four years.
"I was so happy to be back competing at this level, nothing would have gotten me down," McCartney said.
"It's been a long hiatus, but I've been welcomed back so warmly by all the girls. I was so happy to open with a 4.71m at my first comp of the [Northern Hemisphere] season, with plenty more in the tank.
"I also jumped better technically than during the domestic season, so I couldn't ask for anymore."
Fellow Kiwi Tom Walsh also delivered an impressive performance, pushing shot put star Ryan Crouser for a valiant second place.
Walsh was within striking distance of the world record holder and Olympic champion with a best throw of 21.99m, but the American claimed the honours with a 22.27m effort.
Filip Mihaljevic of Croatia rounded out the podium in third with a best of 21.42m.
Meanwhile, Papamoa's Sam Tanner produced a season's best of 3:32:27 to claim fifth place in a world-class 1500m field.
