Shot-putter Lisa Adams has dominated her opposition to retain her F37 crown at the world para championships at Paris.
On a day when all five of her legal throws were good enough to win, Adams, 32, saved her best effort for the last round, tossing 14.84m to add four centimetres to her meet record, set at Dubai in 2019.
Her top-four performance earns New Zealand a spot in the event at next year's Paris Paralympics.
Adams opened her account with a conservative 13.98m, but improved with each of her valid throws of 14.29m, 14.52m, 14.54m and ultimately 14.84m.
The Tokyo Paralympic gold-medallist finished almost 1.5m clear of Chinese runner-up Yingli Li, who threw 13.46m.
"I just needed to get a safe throw out there and just build on that which I did," said Adams. "We don't train to finish second - you want to come first and that was the goal.
"I'm also pleased to get a slot for New Zealand, I feel that was a good team goal."
Coached by sister and two-time Olympic champion Dame Val Adams, she also had brother and NBA basketball star Steven in attendance to celebrate her latest success.
Meanwhile, on the track, long jump specialist Anna Grimaldi raced to 12.31s for the T47 100 metres to set a new national and Oceania record, finishing second in her heat.
"All I had in mind was to aggressively attack the start, which has been something which has let me down in the past," she said. "My start is something we have worked hard to change over the past six months and I feel like, in the last four weeks, it has all come together.
"In past races, I've tied up at 70m or 80m but today that didn’t happen."
Grimaldi captured Paralympic jumping gold at Tokyo, but will chase a world title on the track on Wednesday morning (NZ time).
