Cricket: Trent Boult claims Kiwi bragging rights as Mumbai Indians New York topple Texas Super Kings to reach Major League Cricket final

Blackcaps seamer Trent Boult has sent his Mumbai Indians New York into the inaugural final of American Major League Cricket, starring in a six-wicket victory over Texas Super Kings.

Boult, 34, claimed 4/24 with the ball - including the wickets of compatriots Mitchell Santner and Devon Conway, before New York chased down 159 to get over the line in MLC's second qualifying final with an over to spare.

New York advance to MLC's first final, where they'll face Seattle Orcas for the title.

Following on from a haul of 4/20 against Washington Freedom on Friday, Boult shone again to take his wicket tally to a competition leading 19 scalps at an average of just over 10.

Opening the bowling, Boult removed Texas skipper, former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis - caught at backward point in the second over, after a brutal bouncer from the Blackcaps quick.

Batting at No.3, Santner whipped his first delivery for four, only for Boult to get the last laugh two deliveries later, when an outswinger was edged behind to wicketkeeper, West Indian Nicholas Pooran.

At the other end, Conway anchored the Super Kings' innings with 38, but fell trying to up the run rate in the 17th over when he could only find the hands of South African Dewald Brevis on the leg side boundary.

With the final ball of his spell, Boult had South African-born American all-rounder Calvin Savage, getting revenge after being hit for six over long-on.

Coming around the wicket, Savage failed to get bat on a Boult slower ball, and lost his stumps as Texas limped to 158 all out from their 20 overs.

Chasing 159, 41 not out from Brevis, and a six-laden 33 from Australia's Tim David saw New York comfortably cruise to their total, replying with 162/4 in 19 overs to advance to the final.
