The Ashes series continues to grip the sporting world, with an NRL match the latest to reference the gripping Aussie-England rivalry in a viral try-celebration.
After Kiwi winger Jordan Rapana crossed for a four-pointer against St George Dragons, Canberra Raiders paid tribute to a now infamous incident during the second test.
In homage to the controversial stumping that saw wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow dismissed, Rapana imitated the bowler, with English teammate Elliott Whitehead playing the role of batter.
The hilarious act is in part due to Sportsbet's annual campaign 'Try July' campaign, with the gambling agency donating $5000 for every try celebration.
"Oh, the stumping and the Pom is out," commentator Dan Ginnane said on Fox League. "Sportsbet - and I can say this with authority - that's worth more than $5000."
This year's funds will be donated towards the efforts to help former NZ Warriors coach Daniel Anderson and former NRL player Nathan Stapleton.
Anderson was involved in a body-surfing accident, while Stapleton was left quadriplegic by an onfield injury.
The epic try celebration hasn't gone unnoticed overseas, with Sky Sports coverage of the Ashes replaying it and UK broadcaster Piers Morgan slamming Whitehead's participation.
To add insult to injury, the Raiders also won the match 36-26, after surviving a second-half scare.
