NRL: Kiwis, Melbourne Storm enforcer Nelson Asofa-Solomona smokes State of Origin star Isaah Yeo

Penrith Panthers may come away with the spoils, but Nelson Asofa-Solomona walked away with the bragging rights after landing a devastating hit on New South Wales State of Origin star Isaah Yeo.

Trailing 8-0 in the first half, Yeo looked to punch a hole in the Storm defence, only to find the left shoulder of the Kiwis big man.

The blistering blow sent the Fox Sports commentators into raptures, likening it to collisions only wrestling fans were accustomed to.

"That's WWE stuff that, just sat him straight on his freckle," Michael Ennis said.

Asofa-Solomona capped off a memorable half with a try just a couple of minutes later, to give the Storm a 14-0 lead.

But the Panthers showed why they're the reigning NRL Premiers, clawing their way back into the contest, before sealing an impressive 34-16 win.

Yeo's Origin teammate Stephen Crichton led the fightback with a try before halftime, with Izack Tago and Liam Martin also crossing to snatch an unlikely lead at the break.

Tago grabbed his second minutes into the second half after bumping off Storm winger and former NZ Sevens player Will Warbrick in a sickening clash.

Warbrick was ruled out for the remainder of the fixture after failing his head injury assessment.

Tago was again in the thick of the action for the Panthers' next try, with his grubber finding Zac Hosking to touch down, before Brian To'o put on the finishing touches with a four-pointer of his own late into the contest.
