Less than 24 hours after North Queensland Cowboys recorded a club-record NRL victory, Newcastle Knights have done the same, demolishing Canterbury Bulldogs 66-0.
Aside from being the Knights' 400th NRL victory, it was also the club's largest since 1999, when they defeated South Sydney Rabbitohs 60-0.
Newcastle ran in 11 tries, including a first career hat-trick to centre Bradman Best, and doubles to halfback Jackson Hastings and Phoenix Crossland, while keeping the Bulldogs scoreless at the other end.
On top of his hat-trick, Best also had two try assists, while captain Kalyn Ponga had three to go with 11 conversions from 11 attempts.
Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Kurt Mann, Greg Marzhew and Enaro Tuala were the other scorers for the Knights.
Victory, Newcastle's sixth of the season, sees the Knights 13th on the NRL ladder with 17 points, just three shy of the top eight.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs' defeat sees them 15th, just two points clear of the bottom of the table - currently occupied by Wests Tigers, who fell to a 74-0 defeat on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs have conceded 173 points in their last four games alone, sitting with the worst points differential of the season on -220.
