Rugby: Coach Allan Bunting makes trio of changes for Black Ferns' Pacific Four clash with Canada

Coach Allan Bunting has made some minor adjustments for the Black Ferns' Pacific Four series clash with Canada on Sunday (NZ time).

Experienced loosehead prop Phillipa Love earns her first start, combining with hooker Luka Connor and prop Amy Rule, who have been promoted from the bench in the only changes to the run-on side that demolished Australia 50-0 in the series opener in Brisbane last week.

On the bench, Matatū loose forward Lucy Jenkins is poised to make her test debut, while Kelsey Teneti returns for her second cap.

Bunting is eager to see what sort of impact Jenkins will make at test level, after a "dominant" Super Rugby Aupiki.

"She is a very driven individual and has a well-rounded skillset," said Bunting. "After taking a bit of time off through sickness, she has come back in and continued to impress in our environment.

"Lucy has a bright future ahead of her, and we are excited to see her play and enjoy this very special moment."

The world champion Black Ferns last played Canada during the 2022 Pacific Four, when they prevailed 28-0.

The Canucks qualified for the semi-finals at last year's World Cup in New Zealand, where they were edged by a late try from finalists England.

They last played a test match in April, when they crushed North American rivals the US by 50-17.

"Canada is a well-organised team, who were very unlucky not to knock England out of last year’s Rugby World Cup," added Bunting. "We will need to ensure we are a bit more patient and accurate in our game this weekend, but continue to play with freedom."
