Rugby: Scott Robertson thanks Crusaders, fans in final sign-off after seventh straight Super Rugby title

Crusaders coach Scott Robertson has penned his final goodbye to the Crusaders, after signing off with a seventh Super Rugby title in seven years.

Robertson, 48, will leave the Crusaders after a glittering seven year stint as coach of his former side, after winning silverware in every single season in charge.

But in 2024, Robertson will succeed Ian Foster as head coach of the All Blacks, appointed as successor earlier this year.

This concluded Super Rugby season was Robertson's last - for now - as Crusaders coach, and as he's done from his first year in charge in 2017, finished with a trophy.

And taking out a full page advert in Friday's the Press newspaper, Robertson signed off in style.

"I'd like to take this moment to say thank you, as I finish my time at the Crusaders," Robertson wrote.

"Being a Crusader has been a big part of my life, as a player and as a coach. So much of who I am, who my family is, who I aspire to be - it's all linked to the red and black.

"This week was my last at Rugby Park and boy does it feel strange to say that. My time as a Crusaders head coach is over and my focus has shifted to my ever-supportive family and my own development ahead of the next big challenge.

"This is a moment to thank everyone for the role they've had in my career, an attempt to put my gratitude into words.

"I did this with great people."

As Crusaders head coach, Robertson's side won 98 games, and lifted the Super Rugby title - across three different competition formats - seven times.

Those titles, combined with four won as a player, make Robertson the most decorated man in the competition's history.

Next year, Robertson will hand the reins to former Canterbury coach Rob Penney, who has signed on to replace his former charge as head coach.
