All Blacks captain Sam Cane may face further repercussions, after his attack on a pitch invader at Mendoza.
The NZ skipper led his team to an emphatic 41-12 victory over Argentina to open their Rugby Championship account, as they build towards the Rugby World Cup in September/October.
The result was soon overtaken by Cane's post-match actions, when social media video captured him kicking a pitch invader, who quickly bounced to their feet and escaped pursuing security guards.
Cane quickly realised his mistake and posted an Instagram apology, but his status for next week's showdown against South Africa must now be in doubt, with SANZAAR likely to consider the incident over coming days.
Newshub understands the attack won't be subject to the judicial process, since it occurred after the final whistle, but it may well contravene the competition's code of conduct.
"We have only seen limited footage of the incident, so will review tomorrow, following review of a formal report from the match manager," said SANZAAR chief executive Brendan Morris.
The matter would go before the SANZAAR board, which would decide whether Cane's actions have brought the game into disrepute.
Cane's apology mentioned he was trying to track down his victim and Newshub understands that contact has been made, with the culprit receiving some All Blacks kit as compensation.
"Tonight, after the game, someone ran onto the pitch and I made an error in judgement and played a part in stopping him," he said. "I acknowledge this was not my role and it is out of character of me to act in such a way."
The All Blacks now return to New Zealand and will take on the world champion Springboks at Auckland's Go Media Stadium Mt Smart on Saturday.
