Trent Boult will return to international action as part of the Blackcaps one-day squad to take on England in a World Cup warm-up series next month.
The fast bowler hasn't played for New Zealand since last November's Twenty20 World Cup, after foregoing his central contract with NZ Cricket.
His addition to coach Gary Stead's 15-player group is a strong indication he'll be available for the ODI World Cup, scheduled for India in October.
Fellow quick Kyle Jamieson also returns, after recovering from the back injury that has kept him out of international action since June 2022.
While injured Kane Williamson hasn't been named, he will join the squad in England to train and continue his rehabilitation in another encouraging sign for his World Cup availability.
"We’re delighted to include Kyle in this squad, alongside his earlier selection for the T20 squads to play the UAE and England," said Stead.
"He's been working extremely hard on his rehabilitation following back surgery and we're looking forward to seeing him back playing on the international stage.
"It's also great to welcome Trent back into our ODI unit, as he begins his preparation towards the World Cup in India."
Michael Bracewell remains unavailable for selection, as he continues to recover from surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon in June. Tom Latham will captain the side.
Meanwhile, bowlers Blair Tickner and Ben Lister have been called into the T20 squad to play the UAE next week, after Henry Shipley and Lockie Ferguson withdrew.
All-rounder Shipley was ruled out of the tour, after sustaining a back injury while playing for Sussex in the UK and will remain in New Zealand to undergo further assessment.
Ferguson is a late signing by Welsh Fire for The Hundred, where he will join 10 of his T20 teammates, already confirmed for the 100-ball competition this month.
Ferguson and the other Blackcaps involved in The Hundred will then link up with the Blackcaps squad before the four-game T20 series against England, which begins at Durham on August 30.
Stead says the series against the defending world champions - who beat New Zealand in 2019's infamous final - represents good preparation for the upcoming Cricket World Cup.
"England has been an impressive white-ball side for quite some time and we’re excited to be taking them on at home on the eve of the World Cup," he said.
"We've obviously had a history of great games against them, and I’m sure the four matches will provide all the usual drama and excitement.
"It should be a really competitive series, and I know the group will be looking forward to returning to play at the likes of The Oval and Lord's once again."
