The Blackcaps have avoided a series defeat to associate nation UAE, winning the third and deciding Twenty20 international by 32 runs at Dubai.
Less than 24 hours after falling to a shock defeat, the Blackcaps responded in style, led by half-centuries to Will Young (56 off 46) and Mark Chapman (51 off 32), before Ben Lister stepped up with the ball.
Coming in at No.3 for the first time in the series, Young made UAE captain Muhammad Waseem regret his decision to bowl first, taking 40 balls to raise his bat, with seven boundaries and one six.
For the second time in as many days, Chapman also passed 50, his coming in just 30 balls, as part of an 84-run partnership with Young.
Some late hitting by Mitchell Santner (20 not out) saw the Blackcaps post 166/5 from their 20 overs, while Junaid Siddique took 3/26 with the ball for the hosts.
In reply, the UAE lost regular wickets, with their top score being a lower-order cameo of 42 off 36 balls to 17-year-old Aayan Afzal Khan.
Blackcaps captain Tim Southee was the only bowler not to take a wicket, as Lister (3/35), Kyle Jamieson (1/23), Santner (1/21) and debutant spinner Adithya Ashok (1/28) restricted the UAE to 134/7 from their completed innings.
Aside from his three wickets, Lister also affected the runout of Ansh Tandon, as part of a dominant effort in the field from the Blackcaps.
New Zealand will now pack their bags and head to England for four T20Is and four one-day internationals, with most of the players that featured in the UAE making way for more senior replacements.
