All Blacks Sevens icon Tomasi Cama has been appointed as the men's head coach for the 2024 season.
Cama replaces Clark Laidlaw after six seasons as the new Hurricanes coach's assistant in the New Zealand Sevens set up.
His promotion comes as New Zealand Rugby seek continuity in preparation for the Paris Olympics.
Cama joined the coaching staff in 2015, after a decade-long playing career, where he was an integral part of former coach Sir Gordon Tietjens' All Blacks Sevens side.
He won a gold medal with New Zealand at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, and was also awarded World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year in 2012.
Cama hopes to take his experiences from his time under Sir Gordon and Dave Rennie and apply them to his new role as All Blacks Seven head coach.
"I was fortunate enough to be coached by Dave Rennie at Manawatu and I learnt a lot from him about the detail and planning he put into coaching," he said.
"From Titch, it was about hard work and really dedicating yourself to whatever it is you are doing while with Clark he was big on the connection piece and getting relationships right."
NZ Rugby head of men's high performance Mike Anthony believes Cama is the ideal replacement for Laidlaw to sustain the culture built over the years.
"Tomasi is a master of the game of sevens and an integral part of the DNA of this team, given his significant experience as both a player and a coach," he said.
"He has mana within the playing squad and along with the management team has driven a strong performance culture and achieved success."
"The team are coming off the back of one of their most successful seasons in recent history and we know they are incredibly motivated to continue that form through to the 2024 Olympics"
Euan Mackintosh will continue in his role as assistant coach, with another assistant still to be appointed by NZ Rugby.
