Football Ferns striker Hannah Wilkinson has been handed a three-match by FIFA for her red card against Chile in Santiago last weekend.
Wilkinson struck an official's arm, as she lashed out in frustration over not being awarded a foul for what seemed a clear shove in the back from a Chilean defender during the 3-0 loss.
Wilkinson expresses regret for the incident and accepts FIFA's decision but maintains the contact was incidental.
"I fully accept this outcome and thank FIFA for the speed in reaching the decision," Wilkinson said.
"While it was a genuine accident, I have apologised to the officials in person. I don't condone physical contact with an official, or anyone.
"I had my back turned and was unaware how close she was at the time and fully regret that this happened."
The first match of the three-match ban has already been served with Wilkinson missing the Ferns' second game against in Santiago on Wednesday, which saw a 2-1 defeat for the New Zealanders.
