Kiwi golfer Ryan Fox remains in contention for the BMW PGA Championship in England after a red-hot third round on Sunday (NZ time).
Fox backed up his opening rounds of 69 and 68 respectively with a six-under 66 at the Wentworth club to move within three shots of leader Ludvig Aberg of Sweden and into a three-way tie for fourth.
The Aucklander sank a pair of eagles and five birdies, with a double-bogey at the par-three fifth the only stain on his card.
A win at Wentworth would carry an extra tinge of sentimentality, with the chance to put his name alongside Kiwi great Michael Campbell on the honours board.
"I'd obviously love to do it," said Fox.
"It's a who's who of European golf who have won out here plus a few others, so I'd certainly like to add my name to that list.
"I know [Campbell] has a win around here in the matchplay when it was the final event of the year, so I'd certainly like to try and emulate him and get my name on the honours board at Wentworth."
Another high finish in Surrey would help bolster his chances of securing full PGA Tour status next year, coming on the back of his third-placing at last week's Irish Open.
Fox needs to either finish in the top 125 in FedEx Cup points or the top 10 of the European tour to earn his full PGA card.
Currently sitting 30th, another top-five finish could be enough to lift Fox into the top 10. He's ranked 117th in the FedEx points.
