Motorsport fans, get your calendars ready, with April 19-21 now confirmed for New Zealand's return to the Supercars Championship in Taupō.
Last month, Supercars confirmed Taupō would host the first leg of Supercars since 2022, after no racing in New Zealand this year due to Pukekohe's unavailability.
And while no date was initially confirmed, Thursday saw April locked in as part of a three-year commitment between Supercars and the New Zealand Government, who have added $5 million through the Major Events Fund.
"Ever since the first championship event here in 2001, Supercars has become one of New Zealand's largest attended annual sporting events," said NZ major events manager Kylie Hawker-Green.
"After a year's hiatus we are excited to be able to help reconnect the tens of thousands of fans from across New Zealand with their favourite teams and drivers, as well as welcome thousands of Australian visitors to Taupō and the surrounding regions.
"The Government's major event fund is proud to help lock in the return of Supercars by investing $5 million over the next three ITM Taupō SuperSprints.
"We are confident the Taupō round will add to the rich history of Supercar events in Aotearoa New Zealand."
Taupō will be the 35th different circuit to host a Supercars round, while the entire 2024 calendar will be finalised next month.
