Former Southern Steel and Southern Sting netball coach Robyn Broughton has died.
Broughton coached the Sting to seven National Bank Cup titles, before New Zealand and Australia merged domestic competitions into the ANZ Championship in 2008.
As head coach of the Steel during their infancy, Broughton’s side reached the semi-finals twice, before taking charge of Central Pulse in 2011.
In 2012, Broughton was appointed as an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to netball.
"Robyn Broughton was an incredible woman that gave a huge amount to our game, the most successful domestic coach in our history, winning seven titles in the National Bank Cup," Netball New Zealand said.
"She had a huge impact on the players and people she came in contact with her and made Southland the true home of Netball in her time."
At international level, Broughton was an assistant coach to the Silver Ferns for three years, working alongside Yvonne Willering at the helm of the national side.
