The Blackcaps could be back to full strength for their third group game of the Cricket World Cup against Bangladesh on Friday.
Coach Gary Stead confirms veteran bowler Tim Southee will be available for selection, after recovering from a broken thumb.
Captain Kane Williamson also remains on track for his highly anticipated return from knee surgery and is expected to play his first match for the Blackcaps since March.
Southee underwent surgery for his troublesome thumb, after a misfield in the slips during last month's fourth ODI against England left him with a dislocated and fractured bone in his right hand.
Williamson made a cameo during the Blackcaps' warm-up match against Pakistan last week, but otherwise hasn’t played since suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in the Indian Premier League opener at the start of April.
Stead said Williamson had been "progressing very, very well" and is currently on track to take the field
"He's had a great last five days and has really ramped up the fielding aspect of things, which is the key thing for Kane at the moment," said Stead.
"It's not so much about his injury now, it's his ability to run between the wickets and field and to consistently do that over a 50-over game.
"But we're delighted where he's at. We've got two more trainings still to get through but at this stage all things are looking good for Kane's return in this game, but we still say that with an air of caution."
The Blackcaps are undefeated through their opening two games of the tournament in India, recording convincing wins over England and Bangladesh.
Bangladesh have split their two matches, beating Afghanistan with ease before being crushed by England on Tuesday.
