Football: French Ligue 1 match called off after Lyon bus attacked by Marseille fans

The Ligue 1 match between Marseille and Lyon has been called off, after Lyon's team bus was attacked on their way to the Stade Velodrome.

The bus was pelted with stones that caused windows to shatter, the falling glass leaving Lyon coach Fabio Grosso in a blooded mess and needing medical attention.

Footage then showed the bus arriving at the stadium with four broken windows, before Grosso was led into the stadium by two assistants.

He was covering his face with his hands, which were stained with blood, and he was later bandaged up, as he came out of the stadium’s medical room.

The match was ultimately postponed, with the Competitions Commission to decide whether the fixture would be replayed.

Both clubs have been under pressure - Marseille has one win from four league games, while Lyon is winless in the league.
