Kiwi golfer Ryan Fox has finished tied for second place at the weather-affected Alfred Dunhill Link Championships in Scotland on Tuesday (NZ time).
Defending the title he won 12 months ago, Fox fired a seven-under 65 on the Old Course at St Andrews ins his final round to finish 16-under overall in a three-way share of second with England's Marcus Armitage and Matthew Southgate.
The Aucklander came in three shots shy of winner, Englishman Matt Fitzptarick, who took the spoils with a last-round effort of 66 to bring his overall score to 16-under.
The result continues Fox's rich vein of form, banking his third top-three finish in the last month since his return from a hiatus back home in New Zealand.
After play was washed out for two consecutive days. greenkeepers had to work hard to ensure the rain-sodden course was fit for action, with the delays meaning the tournament was reduced to three rounds.
Fox saved his best for last at St Andrew, peeling off seven birdies on Tuesday, including consecutive efforts on the 10th and 11th holes, without a bogey in sight.
The podium finish secured Fox a cheque for NZ$594,300 to stack on the $2.6m he banked for his landmark win at last month's PGA Championship.
