Luton Town's Elijah Adebayo has scored in stoppage time to complete a late comeback and earn his side a 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League.

Now without a win in five games, Forest dropped to 15th in the table on 10 points, while Luton remained in 17th place, after picking up their fifth point of the season.

After a scoreless first half, All Whites captain Chris Wood scored twice to give Forest a 2-0 lead.

The opening goal came in the 48th minute, after a counterattack. Anthony Elanga played the final pass to Wood, whose first touch took him past Luton defender Tom Lockyer, before he lifted the ball over keeper Thomas Kaminski.

Elanga also set up the second goal, with a cross from the left, which Wood attacked and headed low into the far corner.

That put Forest on track for a much-needed win, but in the 83rd minute, Luton pulled one back. A free-kick was floated into the box and ricocheted off Forest defender Harry Toffolo to fall invitingly for Chiedozie Ogbene, who fired home from close range.

"What changed the game was their first goal," said Forest manager Steve Cooper. "For all of a threat Luton can be from set-pieces, it was probably the worst delivery of the day, and it's clear to see how poorly we defended it and they got the momentum from that one instance."

It set up a nervy ending for the home side, and Luton's push for an equaliser was rewarded in added time, when Lockyer's long ball into the box found Adebayo, who controlled with his chest, before drilling his shot past keeper Matt Turner.

The home side will be left wondering how they let the three points slip away.

"It's a real pity, because up until their first goal, it was a complete one-sided affair," Cooper said.

Forest could easily have taken control of the game at the end of the opening half, but Wood and Ibrahim Sangare missed great chances.

"We were disappointed not to be a goal or two up at half time," Cooper said.

Wood later made up for his missed effort in the second half, but his double wasn't enough and Adebayo's late goal brought boos from the home fans, as Luton celebrated an unexpected point.

In other results, Arsenal fought back from two goals down to claim a draw against Chelsea, champions Manchester City beat Brighton 2-1 and Liverpool won the Merseyside derby 2-0 against Everton.
