Kiwi cricket fans have a free-to-air treat over the next fortnight, with ThreeNow securing the rights to broadcast the Blackcaps test series against Bangladesh.
New Zealand will play two tests in Bangladesh, starting Tuesday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The second test takes place at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, beginning December 6.
Viewers can watch both games live and free, via ThreeNow's revamped streaming service on the free mobile app, www.threenow.co.nz or on Three Sport's pop-up channel.
The series is a landmark event for ThreeNow, marking the first time the service has live-streamed cricket in Aotearoa, adding to its rapidly expanding sporting repertoire that has also featured State of Origin and NZ Warriors rugby league, SailGP and the Supercars Championship.
The series will kick off the next two-year cycle for the World Test Championship and a winning start will be critical to the Blackcaps' bid to repeat their 2021 heroics, when they brought home the mace with a famous victory over India in the final.
The Blackcaps were last in Bangladesh just two months ago, winning a three-match one-day international series 2-0 as part of their warm-up for the World Cup in India.
They haven't won a test match in Bangladesh since 2008, with their last trip in 2013 ending in a pair of draws.
NZ Cricket chief executive Scott Weenink says they're "grateful" for Three stepping forward to claim the broadcast rights and ensure Blackcaps fans are able to catch their team in action leading into the start of the summer schedule.
"Clearly, with the start of the New Zealand summer and also with the start of the test championship, it's fantastic that cricket is being shown in New Zealand and particularly on free-to-air," Weenink said.
