NZ Warriors will return south for the first time in four years, after signing a long-term deal to bring their NRL home games to the Garden City.
On Friday, the club announced it had inked a deal to play one home match per season for the next three years in Ōtautahi.
The Warriors have played eight previous games in Christchurch, but each of those was designated as a home game for the Australian-based sides.
The first two fixtures in 2024 and 2025 will be played at Apollo Projects Stadium, before moving to Christchurch's new international arena Te Kaha Stadium, which is currently under construction.
"This is such an exciting step forward for us as a club," said Warriors chief executive Cameron George.
"We've been eager to bring NRL games to the region for some time and the building of Te Kaha Stadium has helped to make that a reality.
"We're so grateful to Venues Otautahi and Christchurch NZ for enabling this to happen and look forward to playing in front of full houses in Christchurch from next year."
The full draw for the 2024 NRL season will be revealed early next week. The Warriors will reportedly host Cronulla Sharks in round one, where they'll look to continue their momentum from their fourth-place finish last season.
The team's first trial match during the 2024 pre-season will also take place in Christchurch against the Benji Marshall-coached Wests Tigers at Apollo Projects Stadium on February 18. A week later on February 24, they'll face the Dolphins at Mt Smart.
"We're thrilled to join the Warriors in this venture. They've been the best sporting story of the year with everyone getting onboard for the ride," said Venues Otautahi chief executive Caroline Harvie-Teare.
"Having them in Christchurch twice in 2024 is going to be a huge attraction not just for the city but also for the whole of the South Island."
Previous Warriors games played in Christchurch were against Sydney Tigers in 1996, Wests Tigers in 2004, 2005 and 2006, Sydney Roosters in 2010, Penrith Panthers in 2016 and Manly Sea Eagles in 2018 and 2019.
They also played a Super League World Club Championship match against Warrington at Lancaster Park in 1997.
