NZ Warriors will reportedly host an Anzac Day clash, as the NRL prepares to announce the 2024 fixture list on Monday.
With the exception of 2020, when the NRL was temporarily suspended due to COVID-19, the Warriors have played on Anzac Day every year, with an annual fixture with Melbourne Storm a staple of the NRL calendar.
However, since 2016 that clash has been played exclusively in Melbourne, denying the Warriors the chance to play the Anzac Day fixture in front of their own fans.
But according to Australia's Daily Telegraph, that will change in 2024, with a home game on April 25 to be confirmed by the NRL.
Every NRL team's first five fixtures of next season have already been revealed by Sydney Morning Herald, with the Warriors to host Cronulla Sharks in their season opener.
The Kiwi side will also face the Storm away from home in round two, before hosting Canberra Raiders, Newcastle Knights before another away trip to South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Facing the Storm away in round two will likely mean a different opponent for the Anzac Day encounter, rather than see the Warriors make two trips to Melbourne over the course of the 2024 season.
But avoiding the Storm could be a blessing for the Warriors, who haven't beaten Melbourne on Anzac Day since 2014, and suffered a club-record 70-10 loss in February 2022.
