Newly signed Canberra Raiders half Troy Dargan has been killed at the age of 26 in a motorcycle accident on Christmas Eve while on holiday in the Cook Islands.
Dargan, who had made two appearances for South Sydney Rabbitohs, had just inked a two-year contract with the Raiders, and was holidaying in Aitutaki at the time of his death.
"On behalf of the Dargan family, it is with a heavy heart that we share the news of TJ's tragic passing overnight," a statement from Aria Sports Group, Dargan's management, read.
"He and his family were holidaying in the Cook Islands where TJ was involved in a motorcycle accident.
"TJ will be greatly missed and our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
At test level, Dargan made two appearances for the Cook Islands in 2019, scoring twice in a 38-16 victory over USA.
