Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell is under investigation by Cricket Australia after reportedly being hospitalised following a night out in Adelaide.
According to multiple reports from across the Tasman, Maxwell was taken to hospital after attending a concert by the band Six & Out, which includes former teammate and Australian cricketer Brett Lee.
The allegations came just hours after Maxwell was excluded from the Australia one-day international squad to face the West Indies due to being "managed' off the back of his Big Bash League campaign with Melbourne Stars.
The 35-year-old was in Adelaide for a golf appearance on the final day of Australia's first test against the Windies.
On Tuesday, Cricket Australia confirmed it will investigate the incident, insisting his omission from the ODI squad was unrelated.
"Cricket Australia is aware of an incident involving Glenn Maxwell in Adelaide at the weekend and is seeking further information," a CA spokesman said.
"It is not related to him being replaced in the ODI squad, a decision that was made following the BBL and based on his individual management plan.
Maxwell is expected to return to the Australia squad for the Twenty20 international series against the West Indies, which starts February 9.
The incident is the latest in a series of bizarre mishaps for Maxwell.
During the World Cup in India last year, Maxwell was concussed after falling from a golf cart, forcing him out of Australia's clash against England.
In late 2022, he missed Australia's test tour to India and the Big Bash League season after breaking his leg at a friend's birthday party.
