Will Young has sent Blackcaps selectors a reminder of his class with a spectacular 63-ball century to power Central Stags to victory in their Super Smash clash with Otago Volts on Wednesday.
Young - who hasn't played a Twenty20 international for New Zealand since August - scattered the hapless Volts bowling attack to all corners of McLean Park en route to an undefeated 101.
The 31-year-old raised his second career T20 ton by hoisting the last of his three sixes over deep midwicket in the final over of the Stags' innings in a knock which also included 10 fours.
He shared in a 108-run partnership for the second wicket alongside Dane Cleaver (50 off 33 balls) on his way to recording the second century recorded at this year's edition of the domestic T20 league.
The Stags finished with 187/5 on the board which the Volts never threatened, dismissed for 135 in the 18th over to hand the hosts a 52-run win.
Spinner Ajaz Patel led the way with 4/24, after Bevan Small had done the damage at the top of the order to cripple the Volts' chase (3/19 off three overs).
The result sees the Stags leapfrog the Volts into fourth in the overall standings. They move on to face Wellington on Saturday, while Otago travel to Auckland to face the Aces on Sunday.
