Sixth seed Ons Jabeur has suffered a stunning 6-0 6-2 loss to Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva in the Australian Open second round, ending her bid to become the first Arab and African woman to win a Grand Slam title.
Jabeur began the match with a big ace down the middle, but quickly found herself on the back foot, as Andreeva, 16, capitalised on uncharacteristic errors to cruise through the opening set, conceding just eight points.
In her fourth Grand Slam main draw appearance since her debut at last year's French Open, Andreeva showed maturity beyond her years, while Jabeur desperately sought answers from her coaching team.
Dubbed by fans as Tunisia's 'Minister of Happiness', Jabeur quickly swapped her trademark smile for a more determined look in the second set, but there was no stopping Andreeva, who raised her level again and pulled away.
Former champion Caroline Wozniacki has also crashed out of the tournament, losing to Maria Timofeeva in three sets.
The former world No.1 breezed through the first set 6-1, but Timofeeva struck back to easily win the remaining two sets, 6-4 6-1.
Dane Wozniacki came out of retirement last year, after the birth of her two children. She reached the second round of the tournament, after opponent Magda Linette retired injured.
