In scenes you'd expect from Wrestlemania, the NHL clash between New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils has started with an all-in brawl at Madison Square Garden.
Rangers rookie Matt Rempe and Devils Kurtis MacDermid sparked the fight, after Rempe was ejected from two previous meetings between the teams. Last month, Rempe threw an elbow at Jonas Siegenthaler that resulted in a four-game suspension.
On this occasion, five separate fights broke out, as the puck dropped, with Rempe taking on MacDermid, while New York's K'Andre Miller, Jacob Trouba, Barclay Goodrow, Jimmy Vesey faced off against John Marino, Chris Tierney, Kevin Bhl and Curtis Lazar of New Jersey.
Fighting finally ended after a minute, although opposing coaches also exchanged words. Eight players were eventually ejected.
The Rangers led 2-0 early, but had to rally for a 4-3 victory.
