Paris Olympics: British equestrian rider Georgie Campbell - wife of Kiwi Olympian Jesse Campbell - dies in fatal fall

British equestrian star Georgie Campbell - wife of Kiwi Olympian Jesse Campbell - has died from a fall, when competing at an equestrian event in Britain

Campbell suffered a fatal accident, while competing at the Bicton International Horse Trials at Devon, England, aged 37.

"Medical professionals attended immediately following her fall at fence 5b however, unfortunately, she could not be saved," said British eventing. "The horse, Global Quest, was assessed by the onsite vets and walked back to the stable, and is uninjured.

"To respect the family's privacy at this extremely difficult and sad time, no further details will be shared."

Global Quest is an 11-year-old horse that Campbell had competed on at four-star level, winning at Lignieres, France, in 2022. She had contested at five-star Badminton and Burghley on other horses.

Georgie Strang married Jesse Campbell in 2020, before her husband contested the delayed Tokyo Olympics on Diachello, finishing 22nd in the individual three-day event and helping New Zealand to fifth in the team standings. 

He is a candidate for selection to the Paris Olympics later this year.
