Rugby: One change to Black Ferns line-up against Canada in Pacific Four test at Christchurch

Prop Aldora Itunu will return to the Black Ferns for the first time in three years, as the NZ women make one change to their starting XV for the Pacific Four test against Canada on Sunday.

Itunu, 32, last appeared for the national team in 2021, but has returned from having a child in the meantime, earning a recall through her performances with Super Rugby Aupiki champions Blues.

She will come off the bench against the North Americans at Christchurch, with Blues teammate Chryss Viliko promoted to the starting unit to replace injured Kate Henwood.

"Aldora’s perseverance, determination and physical presence has been evident since returning to our environment," said Ferns coach Allan Bunting. "She is a special human, and has a lot to give this jersey both on and off the field.

"We know the impact she will make and look forward to her taking the field once again in the Black Ferns jersey."

The only other change to the side that swamped USA 57-5 in their series opener sees loose forwards Liana Mikaele-Tu'u and Layla Sae switch places, with Mickaele-Tu'u taking the No.8 jersey and Sae playing blindside flanker.

"Our ladies delivered some special moments last weekend against USA," said Bunting. "We were able to see quite a bit of growth in what we have been working through.

"We want to continue to build on this again this weekend. Canada presents a quality challenge we need on our journey into the World Cup.

"As a coaching group, we want to continue to see growth in certain areas of our game."

Canada already have two wins in the series, accounting for USA 50-7 and Australia 33-14.
