Super Rugby Pacific: Playoff spots up for grabs over final two weeks of regular season

With two weeks left in the Super Rugby Pacific regular season, there's still plenty to play for, with every team still within reach of the top eight.

Can the Blues remain atop the table?

How will the Chiefs handle their finish against the competition's top two teams?

Can the doomed Melbourne Rebels keep their first-ever playoff spot, despite a horror schedule?

Who will win the pivotal Highlanders v Fijian Drua showdown at Dunedin?

Can the champion Crusaders somehow salvage a post-season spot from their horror season?

Here's a rough guide to how those scenarios unfold...

BLUES

Crusaders (away), Chiefs (home)

Have clinched a home advantage for the quarter-finals, but still have niggly local derbies against fallen champions Crusaders and fourth-placed Chiefs. If they drop their bundle, they could mathematically still lose home advantage in the semis, but a win this weekend would seal that.

Current quarter-final match-up: Fijian Drua (1-0)

TAB Odds: $2.50

HURRICANES

Chiefs (away), Highlanders (home)

Have also clinched a home quarter-final and victory over the Chiefs would all but seal a home semi. Can still finish atop the table, if the Blues drop one of their last two games.

Current quarter-up match-up: Highlanders (1-0)

TAB Odds: $3.25

ACT BRUMBIES

Rebels (home), Force (away)

Have clinched a home quarter, but a real threat to climb the ladder, with a couple of soft opponents to come. Can still finish top, if the Blues and Hurricanes hit a wall.

Current quarter-final match-up: Melbourne Rebels (1-0)

TAB Odds: $10

CHIEFS

Hurricanes (home), Blues (away)

Toughest possible finish to their regular season, with the top two teams looming. Will host a quarter-final and could still snatch a home semi.

Notably, they are still second favourites to win the title, behind the Blues.

Current quarter-final match-up: Queensland Reds (0-1)

TAB Odds: $2.75

QUEENSLAND REDS

Force (home), Waratahs (away)

Have clinched their post-season spot, but can't improve their position up the table. Would need some quarter-final upsets to sneak a home semi.

Current quarter-final match-up: Chiefs (1-0)

TAB Odds: $21

MELBOURNE REBELS

Brumbies (away), Drua (away)

With their Super Rugby days numbered, they could still fall out of the eight, with a tough finish to their schedule that includes the dreaded Lautoka road trip.

Current quarter-final match-up: ACT Brumbies (0-1)

TAB Odds: $151

HIGHLANDERS

Drua (home), Hurricanes (away)

Could still miss the playoffs, if those below them catch alight, but at least they won't receive the wooden spoon.

Current quarter-final match-up: Hurricanes (0-1)

TAB Odds: $101

FIJIAN DRUA

Highlanders (away), Rebels (home)

Could still miss the playoffs, but also have a chance to drag themselves up the table, with a favourable draw over the next two weeks. This weekend's visit to Dunedin has massive ramifications.

Current quarter-final match-up: Blues (0-1)

TAB Odds: $51

WESTERN FORCE

Reds (away), Brumbies (home)

Still within shot of the playoffs, if the Drua or Highlanders stumble, but also within shot of the cellar.

TAB Odds: $501

CRUSADERS

Blues (home), Moana Pasifika (home)

Finish with two home games and still have a chance to reach playoffs. In fact, the TAB likes the defending champs to achieve that at the cost of the Rebels.

TAB Odds: $81

MOANA PASIFIKA

Waratahs (home), Crusaders (away)

Sure, they still have a shot and they have a chance to break a four-game losing streak against the struggling 'Tahs at home. More likely they finish bottom of the table.

TAB Odds: $1001

NSW WARATAHS

Moana Pasifika (away), Reds (home)

Can still make the eight, but probably need too much else to happen.

TAB Odds: $1001
