Defending NBL champions Canterbury Rams are on one of the club's most impressive runs, unbeaten in their last 12 matches.
One player in the team has an even more impressive record though - Aussie import Lachlan Olbrich is undefeated in all his games as a Ram.
However, his reason for missing the side's only two losses this season is a heartbreaking one, forced to return home after the tragic passing of his father.
Olbrich, 20, has had quite the start to his Canterbury career - the 2.08m (6ft 10in) Aussie is currently 13-0 as a Ram.
However, the same evening he made his debut, Olbrich was given the news his father had passed away, suffering a cardiac arrest during a social basketball game in South Australia.
"I'm a big family guy," he told Newshub. "My dad meant the world to me, like my biggest role model, so it was really devastating, but the club did an amazing job of getting me home quick and being able to grieve for the amount of time I had."
Since returning to Christchurch, his performances have been awe-inspiring.
"You forget he's 20 years old and what he's had to deal with," said Rams coach Judd Flavell. "I mean the guy... you just wouldn't know, dealing with him on everyday life.
"He's such a positive character."
Olbrich has lofty goals, hoping to be drafted into the NBA next year, but for now, his focus is on creating more highlight reels with the Rams.
He might just be the x-factor the Rams need, if they're to make it back-to-back NBL titles.
