Olympic bronze medallist Jonelle Price has been named for her fourth Games, as part of the NZ equestrian team to Paris.
Price, 43, and husband Tim will combine with Clarke Johnstone to contest the three-day event, an event that has previously served New Zealand well, with individual gold to Mark Todd (Los Angeles 1984 & Seoul 1988) and Blyth Tait (Atlanta 1996).
Jonelle Price was part of the NZ team that finished third at London 2012, then fourth at Rio 2016 and fifth at Tokyo 2020, where she was the highest-placed Kiwi in 11th.
"The Olympic Games is the pinnacle of any sport and resonates so globally, which makes it extra special," she said. "I am delighted for myself, the team, friends and family who have all been instrumental in our careers."
Currently ranked 17th in the world, she will ride Hiarado at Paris, after finishing ninth on reserve horse Grappa Nera at Badminton in May.
Tim Price is ranked ninth in the world and will ride Falco, which he guided to victory at Pau in 2021.
Johnstone has overcome the sudden death of partner Codey last December to earn selection for his second Olympics, after finishing sixth in the individual standings at Rio.
"It has been an incredibly difficult year for me personally," said Clarke. "Having the goal of the Olympic Games, which we were both so invested in, has kept me going the past six months.
"I have poured my heart and soul into training and competing my lovely horses this year to make our goal a reality. I know he would be so proud."
Melissa Galloway will contest the individual dressage on Windermere J’Obei W, after reaching a world ranking of No.26 - the highest ever by a Kiwi.
Three-day event: Clarke Johnstone (Menlo Park), Jonelle Price (Hiarado), Tim Price (Falco)
Dressage: Melissa Galloway (Windermere J’Obei W)
