The Prosecution implied the cops were joking about Allen Ball dying. The Defence says that's "nonsense".
The Defence today told the court they didn't intend to call any evidence or witnesses.
Three officers are charged over the 55-year-old's death.
However Constable Ben Patterson admitted he wouldn't have taken Ball to hospital that night.
The defence says it's not uncommon for officers to leave an intoxicated detainee to sleep it off.
An ex-colleague of the three officers on trial says waking inmates for regular checks can agitate them further.
