Iconic car manufacturer DeLorean has taken a step closer to its promised electric vehicle future with a teaser shot of its new concept car.
It comes just a month after the Back To The Future time machine creator said it was making a comeback after originally going bust in 1983.
"Let's clear things up a bit. The next generation of DeLorean is coming into focus August 18, 2022," the company wrote on Twitter.
The newly released shot showcases the left shoulder and back tail light of the concept car.
The car will now make its premier on the Awards Ramp at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, a charity event held each year at the famous Pebble Beach golf course.
"Excitement is rising like the doors of our iconic sports car, and we are revealing the next generation prototype three days earlier than planned on the most prestigious stage at Pebble Beach," Troy Beetz, CMO of DeLorean Motor Company said.
Along with the reveal, DeLorean will also announce the official name of the vehicle, it said.
The legendary gull-winged car was only made between 1981 and 1983 but has lived on in pop culture due to its appearance in the Michael J Fox movie.
That's despite the car being a disappointment when it was launched, with build quality and poor performance major issues among the 9000 cars produced.
The DeLorean website currently promises those who sign up to its mailing list will "remain among the first to get updates as we prepare to premier the evolution of DeLorean in 2022".
Those who share their address get an email congratulating them on joining "the journey that is DeLorean".
"Over the next several months you will have an amazing opportunity to be exposed to a curated history of where we've been and what we have been creating over the last 40 years and what the future holds for the next iconic DeLorean," the email said.
