Pizza lovers in Aotearoa could soon be enjoying a free large pizza as Domino's releases its new app for smartphones.
According to the company, it sells seven pizzas every second across its 3100 worldwide stores, with Kiwis munching through thousands each day.
That makes pizza a massively popular takeaway option in New Zealand with the likes of Pizza Hut, Sal's Pizza, Hell Pizza and more competing with Domino's for Kiwis' cash.
To celebrate the launch of the new app, which is designed to make ordering online faster and easier, new Domino's customers will get a bonus when ordering via the app for the first time - a code for a free pizza the next time they order.
The company said a new customer was someone who hadn't associated their phone number with an order on the old Domino's app in the last 12 months.
Those who aren't new customers may still get a 30 percent discount on a pizza, the company said, but didn't reveal the selection criteria for receiving the discount.
Domino's ANZ Chief Marketing Officer Adam Ballesty said the new app would also offer special offers.
"We know that our customers are always looking for great value, with many going to great lengths to find the best deals online.
We've made that process even easier by providing all of our best money-saving specials in one place: the Domino's app."
Domino’s Group Chief Digital and Experience Officer Michael Gillespie said the company was committed to innovating to improve the digital experience for customers.
"With almost 70 percent of our customers placing their pizza order online, we are continuing to evolve our technology to meet our customers' needs.
The new Domino's app simplifies the ordering experience to allow customers to easily place their order," he said.
"This is just the beginning – our app will continue to grow and evolve with refinements and features that enhance the ordering experience for our customers."
A minimum spend of $20 will apply to anyone wanting to take advantage of a free or discounted pizza, the company said.
