Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg appear to have agreed to engage in physical combat after recently launching a war of words against each other.
If they follow through on their social media claims, the pair will "cage match" each other at an iconic UFC venue in Las Vegas.
Musk is the current owner of Twitter and has hit out at Facebook founder Zuckerberg over his company Meta's recent talk of developing a Twitter competitor.
In a recent Meta meeting, it was suggested by the company's chief product officer Chris Cox its version of a mico-blogging platform would be "sanely run", an apparent dig at Musk whose leadership of Twitter has been highly controversial.
Responding in a tweet, Musk said: "I'm sure Earth can't wait to be exclusively under Zuck's thumb with no other options. At least it will be 'sane'. Was worried there for a moment."
The 51-year-old added in a reply about 39-year-old Zuckerberg practising jiu jitsu: "I'm up for a cage match if he is."
Zuckerberg took a screenshot of that and posted it on Instagram with the message: "Send me location."
Musk was quick to respond with: "Vegas Octagon."
Alex Heath, a journalist at The Verge, reports that an official spokesperson for Zuckerberg has confirmed he is not joking and will actually fight Musk.
Musk has not officially confirmed if he is serious about a physical confrontation as Zuckerberg reportedly has, but is potentially backtracking by making light of the situation. In subsequent tweets he has suggested his fighting style would be similar to a walrus as "I just lie on top of my opponent and do nothing".
